In addition, the building is magnificently situated, with views of the city's skyline, the harbour and the river - another precondition for a Grand Hotel. At night you can experience the peace and tranquillity of a hotel on the waterfront. From the building's many vantage points, you can watch the often spectacular sunsets, while the windows afford views of the clouds and city lights. Hotel New York has two towers, both of which are hotelrooms. While 19th century hotels had carriages with a regular coachman, and later a limousine with chauffeur, this hotel offers the services of a watertaxi with skipper! This means you will be in the Veerhaven (old ferry harbour) directly opposite to the hotel in 5 minutes. If you prefer to be ferried to the towncentre, you can get off at Leuvehaven. Room information Hotel New York has 72 rooms, including as stated previously, two tower rooms and a penthouse which is for rent for longer periods of time. Of course, the rooms are fitted with en suite bathroom and toilet, shower and/or bath, telephone and television They are spacious, with high ceilings, and most offer a view of the river. Although the rooms are not airconditioned, there is a thermostat control to adjust the central heating in each room, while the windows can be opened. Distant harbour sounds are heard in the background, harbour smells permeate the room and if the wind is blowing from the right direction, you can sniff the sea air ...: this is Rotterdam! The rooms are divided over 3 floors, and can be reached by means of the lift or by way of the wrought iron staircase. Upon request, you can have a video recorder, CD player or radio tape recorder installed in your room. The hotel has a limited music selection in CD to please all tastes, which is provided for your enjoyment. On video too, we have made the best possible selection in the field of films from the history of cinema. The rooms offered by HNY vary in shape, size and colour The former executive suites in the building, although very dilapidated, remained in a reasonable state of repair: rosewood and walnut panelling and an authentic carpet in almost all the rooms, specially designed by Th. Colenbrander (1841-1930). These carpets, with Art Nouveau motifs, were woven some ninety years ago by the Deventer Carpet Factory. Thanks to the Textile museum in Tilburg, they could be fully restored to their former glory to once again grace the floors of these rooms. Due to their prominent position in the company, the executives commanded prime views from their offices. Hotel New York does not include a minibar in the rooms, since the hotel offers a 24-hour room service. This and other services, such as telephone, laundry and hire of equipment, are available to guests and are charged at cost price only. Room prices do not include breakfast. This was a deliberate decision, based on the fact that while one guest prefers an extensive breakfast, the other only wishes to avail himself of a cup of coffee and a croissant before jumping onto the watertaxi. In short: breakfast is available to those who want it, and is not imposed as an unnecessary expense if you would prefer to go without it. Two of the most pleasantly situated rooms may, on request, be furnished as honeymoon rooms. The ground floor has a large café-restaurant which seats 400 guests, where one can eat either à la carte, extensively or simply, in all price classes, from early in the morning to late at night. There is an oyster bar and tea salon. A true meeting place for both locals and travellers, surrounded on all sides by river views, with the city accross the way. A true meeting place for both locals and travellers, surrounded on all sides by river views, with the city accross the way. Area information This property is located on the Kop van Zuid, an area with imposing architecture, near to the centre of Rotterdam. The famous Luxor Theatre is just a short stroll from the cafés and restaurants of the town centre and is just a short hop by water taxi from the hotel. Other attractions such as the football stadium De Kuip and the multi-purpose hall Ahoy are just 10 minutes by metro. Furthermore, the Euromast, Kunsthal (exhibition centre) and the Maritime Museum are also nearby and worth a trip. Comments Pets are not allowed in Hotel New York.
